Since 2004 Grant has been hosting the Best Bush Poet’s Breakfast Show at West Tamworth Leagues Club as part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Australia’s best bush poets are invited to perform at a two-hour show each morning of the ten day Festival.
“We get 300 to 400 people each morning come along to have brekky and fabulous entertainment from the poets. It is a great way to kick start the day.”

This is what my mate Jim Haynes says about the 2008 show:
“The BEST of the BUSH POETS SHOW will again be hosted every morning at ‘Blazes’, inside West Tamworth League Club by Grant Luhrs, with a great line up of Bush Poets including John Best, Jack Drake, Gary Fogarty, Melanie Hall, Carol Heuchan, Bill
Kearns, Garry Lowe, Greg North, Paddy Ryan, Peter Mace & Noel Stallard – plus the funniest two little bush poets around, Angus & Cameron Young.
This year Grant, the ‘Nude Boot Scooting Man’ of Wagga Wagga, will lead the HEART STARTER SINGALONG’ each day.
Every morning from 7.30 AM the various Bush Poetry Clubs of Australia will present 25 minutes of their best poets, hosted by Carol Heuchan. So you will see the STARS OF TOMORROW every morning from 7.30 and the BIG BUSH POETRY STARS from 8 to 10am. Entry is $7.50 with free tea and coffee. Breakfast is on sale at the venue and it’s a great start to each day!”
